Cotopaxi National Park

The Cotopaxi volcano, an almost perfect ice cone that emerges 5897 meters of altitude is something unique in the planet and one of Ecuador’s iconic attractions. The Cotopaxi is the highest active volcano in Ecuador and the second tallest mountain in the country. It’s last eruption took place in August, 2015. The paramo that surrounds the area is habited by rabbits, skunks, deer and Andean weasels known as chucuris, sparrowhawks, black-chested buzzard-eagles, condors, Andean foxes and paramo wolves amongst others. This day combines an active hike and mountain bike ride with spectacular views inside the Cotopaxi National Park.

Whale Watching Tour

During whale season, which starts in June and ends in September, you can spot humpback whales on your way to island on this 3 hour whale watching tour. These big mammals are found in Ecuadorian waters during their migration. From Antartica to the coast of the National Park Machalilla they travel more than 7000 km. The young males are the first ones to arrive, followed by the more adult females and males, in July arrive the females ready to reproduce. They carry their babies for 11 months, therefore they say “Las ballenas se hace y nacen en Manabí" (the whales are conceived and born in Manabí). Besides whales it is also possible to observe different species of dolphins.

Community Tour Guamote

The canton of Guamote is the most traditional region in Ecuador, as 95% of the population is Indigenous (while in the whole of Ecuador it is only 25%). Guamote itself has about 5000 inhabitants, but in the mountains surrounding Guamote another 40.000 people live in small communities. On this trip you will visit some of these little villages and you will be shown some of the community development projects that we support in the mountains.

Cotopaxi-Quilotoa Program (2 days)

This 2 day program combines some of the most exiting activities around the Andes in Ecuador: Cotopaxi bikes with the magnificent views of this great volcano and the beautiful Lagoon Quilotoa

El Cajas National Park

Visit and trek in El Cajas National Park for a glimpse at lagoons and exotic fauna and flora. El Cajas is a national park located on the northwest side of the city of Cuenca. It’s formed by wetland from glacial origins with more than 200 lakes. The area is home to a large variety of animals, some of which are endemic or highly endangered such as the South American condor, raptors, hummingbirds, pumas, bats, foxes, many amphibians, insects and many more. The park and its surroundings are also famous for its trout population.
