Departure: Every day At roughly 55 km (approx. 34 miles) from Guamote, taking winding roads through amazing páramo landscape, you find the authentic Indigenous community of Ozogoche. The community is surrounded by a cluster of 45 beautiful lakes. During the trip you will get an impression of the daily life of the people in the mountains. At 3400 meters (11,154 ft). This is the place where you can see big herds of lamas and alpacas and look over multiple mountains in a glance! Every year in September hundreds of migratory birds plunge deep in the icy waters of the lakes and kill themselves. You will take adventurous trails, crossing freshwater rivers and passing huge rocks. Brave people can even take a swim in the lake. You will pay a quick visit the community of Ozogoche where the children of the local school are always happy to see us. A local foundation started some projects at the school, together with the children and the teachers like painting the school, donating pigs, a school trip and much more. After the walk there will be a traditional trout lunch ready for you to enjoy. Late in the afternoon you will be brought back to Guamote, through the mountains, along the ride you can enjoy some more beautiful scenery.
