Departure: Every day (private tour)
Mindo, a small town located in a valley 2 hours northwest of Quito, will offer you a lot of nature and adventure! This day tour will give you the opportunity to explore both. The village is located in the Chocó region, an extended area, reaching from Panamá to Peru, famous for its great biodiversity and endemicity within, probably due to the Andes isolating flora & fauna. It is also the perfect place for birdwatching. Mindo’s cloud forest will amaze you.
It is possible to change 1 or 2 activities in this program for a visit to the Intiñan Equator Museum and/or a cocoa tour in which you can see how chocolate is being made from bean to bar. It is best to ask for the possibilities to change the itinerary while booking the tour, but you can also discuss the options with your guide during the tour.
Mindo’s climate is humid, in the morning it can be warm and sunny, afternoons can be marked with rain and followed with a temperature drop. Especially near the river it is recommended to use large trousers and socks, as protection for the mosquitos, always make sure mosquito repellent is within reach.
